POSITION OVERVIEW:

Nova Steel is looking for a highly driven, relationship-focused Account Manager to lead and grow our commercial presence across Western Canada. In this role, you will own a strategic territory, develop new business, strengthen long-term partnerships, and represent a respected North American steel leader across key flat-rolled and service center markets. Ideal candidates bring deep industry experience, advanced selling skills, and a strong ability to engage senior decision-makers while delivering measurable growth.

Travel: Regular regional travel + occasional meetings in Québec

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Account Manager (Outside Sales Rep) is responsible for developing, servicing, and growing the Western Canada region.
  • Leverage established business relationships and develop new accounts to increase revenue for the company within identified strategic markets.
  • Meet and exceed assigned sales quotas.
  • Establish and implement strategies to meet Nova Steel’s and customer targets in the short and long term, exceeding or meeting year-over-year growth and profitability while maintaining a stable account base for the company.
  • Identify market trends and adjust business plans to exceed sales targets while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Negotiate prices for short and long-term supply agreements, consistent with corporate objectives.
  • Proven experience with engaging business leaders and influencing senior executives.
  • Support the development of quarterly forecasts, annual marketing, and sales budgets, and 3-5 year plans.
  • Develop a business plan for each account; plan how to increase market share and meet sales targets.
  • Liaison and maintain positive, collaborative, and mutually beneficial relationships within the company, including purchasing, sales, marketing, operations, finance, and executives.
  • Maintain an understanding of global and North American market issues and trends; provide detailed competitive market intelligence.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, or a related discipline, is recommended.
  • Minimum of 5 years outside sales and new business development experience in flat-rolled steel or the steel service industry.
  • Advanced selling skills, including qualifying prospects, lead generation, new business development, account penetration, strategic selling, consultative selling, negotiation, and contracts.
  • Demonstrated success in a transactional customer acquisition role, including lead generation, prospecting, lead follow-up, presentation, and closing.
  • An aggressive approach to continually and effectively manage the sales funnel.
  • Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and entrepreneurial spirited.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other platforms.
